Weather: A Rainy Evening

By Justin Drabick

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Winter and Spring are battling it out today as a classic early Spring clipper system is bringing rain and even some snow in the mountains today.  Depending on which side of the storm system you are on will determine your temperatures.  There is a warm front set up north of the city, causing a big temperature spread today.  North of the front, temperatures are in the 40s and 30s with snow falling in the Poconos.  South of the front, temperatures are in the 50s and in the mid 60s as far south as central & southern Delaware.

The clipper system will move through the Delaware Valley this evening bringing periods of rain.  To the far north, there may be some snow flakes mixed in later this evening in the Lehigh Valley with no accumulation expected.  In the Poconos, it will be all snow with an inch or two of accumulation possible.  The precipitation will come to an end by around 10pm.  As the storm moves off the coast, windy and colder conditions will return tonight with low temperatures in the mid 30s.

A large high pressure system will move into the region on Wednesday providing sunshine but high temperatures will be below average in the lower 50s.  A warming trend will then take place on Thursday with sunny skies and breezy conditions, as highs climb above average to the mid 60s.  It stays warm on Friday but more clouds return with showers during the day and highs in the upper 60s.
