Tony Romo Would Have Taken A Pay Cut To Keep DeMarco Murray In Dallas

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Eagles' fortune in acquiring DeMarco Murray was based on the Cowboys' misfortune in not wanting to break the bank to keep Murray in blue. What if there was a little more money available to Dallas? It appears there might have been.
Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo explained that he would have taken less money to keep Murray in Dallas.
"DeMarco ended up asking me, 'Why don't you take a pay cut?' I said, 'I will. I would take a pay cut to go do this,'" Romo said as a guest on 105.3 The Fan's Ben and Skin show.
"I was like, 'They're going to restructure me.' That's the same thing in some ways, just for the salary cap purposes. He was like, 'OK, now we're back to being friends, again.' I would take $5 million less if meant getting him back."
No pay cut ever took place for Romo and Murray wound up signing a five-year deal with the Eagles reported to be worth $42 million with $18 million guaranteed.
