Hudson was a four-year veteran and is described by Upper Darby Borough Police Chief Bob Smythe as a "shining star in the department:"

"He was an even-tempered, nice guy.  Anybody that met him, he always had a good word for them. He knew how to talk to people and handle people.  He was a part-time officer that worked on the squad."
