WEATHER: Thunderstorms Today, Followed By Temp Drop And Possible Flurries

By Geoff Bansen

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Thursday will be a cloudy day with scattered showers throughout. An embedded thunderstorm is possible as well, none of which will be severe. As we sit in the 'warm sector' of a storm system, temperatures will have the opportunity to soar later this afternoon. A cold front will move through after 8pm tonight, bringing a line of heavy showers and some thunderstorms.

Once it passes, temperatures will begin to drop.

Friday will be a cooler day with lingering showers in the morning.

The upcoming weekend is looking mainly dry, but there is the possibility for some flurries -- yes, flurries -- and sprinkles during the first half of the day Saturday. It's also going to be chilly, with highs only in the 40s.

While we may not see any extreme or severe weather today, other parts of the country certainly did over the past 24 hours. This is the perfect time to observe Pennsylvania Severe Weather Awareness Week, which focuses on preparing for potential extreme weather. You can find out more information by clicking here.
