Violent Assault Sends SEPTA Bus Driver To The Hospital

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A SEPTA bus driver was hospitalized after he was violently attacked by a male, officials said.

The attack happened Wednesday afternoon at 33rd Street and Ridge Avenue in the city's Strawberry Mansion section.

According to SEPTA officials, an unidentified male began to assault the driver of the Route 54 SEPTA bus.

The driver was taken to Temple University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect was eventually taken into police custody.

It was not immediately known what prompted the attack.

The incident remains under investigation.
