Wednesday's Child: Makayla

By Larry Kane
Produced by Timothy McLaughlin

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) —- Her name is Makayla. She's eleven years old.  And this budding gymnast will tumble right into your heart.

"(I do) cartwheels, front flips, and back flips."

And she has big dreams of winning gold one day.

"I want to go to the Olympics -- probably the (parallel) bars."

But she has a backup plan in case she doesn't make it to the podium.

"Be a vet. I like animals a lot."

She's looking for a loving, permanent family that can match her energy level.  How would she describe her ideal family?

"Adventurous. They like to go places, not stay in the house reading books all day."

Her recruiter, Sarah DeGeorge, says Makayla would be a great addition to any family.

"She has a great personality. She is very smart and is able to communicate so well.  I think she would bring to a family a lot of love and joy and laughter.  And she would bring a lot of fun."

For more information about adopting Makayla or any other child, go to the National Adoption Center's  web site, www.adopt.org, or call 215-735-9988.
