Police: 1 Dead, 1 Injured Following Accident Involving Dirt Bike, SUV In Northeast Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Police say one person is dead and another person is injured following an accident involving a dirt bike and an SUV in Northeast Philadelphia.
Philadelphia Police say it happened at about 1:30 p.m. Monday at the 7200 block of Hawthorne Street.
According to police, a Chevy Tahoe was traveling northbound on 7200 Hawthorne Street. Police say a dirt bike was traveling on the sidewalk and then entered the street on the 7200 block of Hawthorne Street and allegedly struck the Tahoe head on.
Police say the dirt bike, operated by a 19-year-old male, had a 19-year-old female passenger on the rear of the bike at the time of the accident.
Both the operator and the passenger were taken to Aria Health Torresdale Campus and both were listed in critical condition, according to police.
Police say while at the hospital the 19-year-old operator of the dirt bike was pronounced dead.
Police say no leaving the scene or DUI were involved.
