Two Residents Injured, Dozens Displaced By Apartment Complex Fire

SOMERS POINT, N.J. (AP) — Two people were injured in a fire at a southern New Jersey apartment complex that displaced more than 30 residents.

It's not yet known what sparked the blaze at the Somers Point Village complex, which broke out shortly before 3 a.m. Sunday.

One of the injured residents was a woman who reportedly jumped from a second-floor balcony to escape the flames. She and the other injured person were both being treated at a hospital for undisclosed minor injuries.

Several apartments were damaged in the fire.

The American Red Cross was providing assistance to 21 adults and 12 children — including three infants — who were displaced by the fire.
