Dick Vermeil: Chip Kelly Critics Will Eventually 'Eat Crow'

By Andrew Porter

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- On Tuesday, the city wanted him fired. Just 48-hours later, after the newest Eagle---former Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray---said he came to Philly to win a Super Bowl, the feeling surrounding Chip Kelly flipped.

In Chip we trust, is back.

For some of us, including former Eagles head coach Dick Vermeil, Kelly was never doubted.

"You gotta trust your leader and I trust this guy just like I trusted Andy Reid. I'm excited about what he's doing and I'm glad he's brave enough to make these bold moves."

Listen: Dick Vermeil talks about Chip Kelly's recent moves on the 94WIP Morning Show

Why should we trust him?

"His track record," Vermeil explained. "I think his first two years, you know, he wins football games and does a very good job. His offense is outstanding. They've played pretty good defense without enough good football players on defense and his rectifying that problem. And he knows that. I just think, I'll go back to the word, trust him. Respect him. Get after him when you don't like him, when he does something wrong because we don't do it right all the time. I kinda believe somewhere down the road, everybody that has been very critical of him is gonna have to eat crow."
