Mother Nature Steals The Spotlight

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - It's not just the influence of the Flower Show's cinematic theme, often when Nature is at its most spectacular, you hear people say 'It's like a movie!'

The more extraordinary the color of a flower or frog, the feathers of a bird, or the more amazing a weather event, the more unreal it seems, when of course, it's perfectly natural.

Last week's snowstorm, for example, was pretty impressive – watching out the window as it piled up around here, it was easy to say that it looked like 'movie snow', flakes falling so heavily they seemed faked for the cameras. And the 8-inch icicles dangling from evergreens in the sunshine the next day seemed like oversized decorations from a department store display or a Hollywood set. But they couldn't be more real.

All good reminders to check out the entertainment outside your door much more often. Take a walk any time of year and see what's growing and going on; the busy birds and bunnies, the buds ready to break. Really, it's beautiful…it's like a movie.
