New Jersey State Offices Closed Due To Weather

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Snow is sweeping across New Jersey and that has caused government offices and most schools to close.

Gov. Chris Christie declared a state of emergency and is asking motorists to stay off the roads if possible.

Officials have decided to close state offices on Thursday. They initially had delayed opening until 11 a.m. Most schools closed ahead of the storm.

A winter storm warning is in effect for most of the state until 7 p.m. The National Weather Service says 4 to 8 inches of snow are possible before the snow ends late in the day.

Motorists are facing speed restrictions on major highways.

New Jersey Transit buses and trains are crossing honoring tickets.
