Latest Storm Causes Flight Cancellations, Other Travel Woes

PHILADELPHIA (CBS/AP) — The latest round of winter weather has led to cancellation of hundreds of flights and caused other travel problems in Philadelphia.

Philadelphia International Airport said around 150 arrivals and around 150 departures had been reported canceled as of Sunday afternoon.

Airport officials also said the Federal Aviation Administration had issued arrival delays for flights averaging more than four hours due to snow and ice.

The Delaware River Port Authority said speed limits on all bridges between New Jersey and Pennsylvania had been reduced to 25 mph. PennDOT also issued speed restrictions on major roadways.

PennDot's Gene Blaum says they're tackling the storm from all angles:

" We will have our trucks out throughout the course of the storm. we aim to have the roads swept for Monday morning rush hour."

Philadelphia Office of Emergency Management urged drivers to be cautions in the slippery conditions.

SEPTA is reporting some minor delays with their buses, trains and regional rails.

The National Weather Service predicts snow ranging between 1 and 7 inches in many parts of the commonwealth but warns that sleet, freezing rain and ice may cause problems.
