Icy Conditions Continue Overnight

By Justin Drabick

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Sunday's storm system continues to move offshore, allowing drier conditions to return to the Delaware Valley overnight.

A cold front will slide offshore putting an end to the snow & freezing rain.  Snowfall amounts of over 3" were reported in the NW suburbs of Philadelphia and in the Lehigh Valley.  The extended period of freezing rain brought ice accretions from around one tenth of an inch to three tenths of an inch around the region.

Temperatures will slowly rise overnight to near freezing or slightly above around Philly, but remain below freezing north of the city.  So, even though the precipitation will end, untreated surfaces will remain icy overnight into Monday morning.

Expect some slippery travel for the morning commute, especially on side streets, driveways, sidewalks and parking lots.

Conditions will continue to improve during the morning on Monday as the sunshine returns and temperatures warm up into the mid & upper 30s.
