Snow & Ice On The Way

By Justin Drabick

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Another weekend storm will impact the Delaware Valley on Sunday afternoon and night.

With arctic air still in place, this storm will bring a mix of snow, ice and some rain.  A winter weather advisory will go in effect for the region late Sunday morning.

Snow should begin to arrive from west to east by early Sunday afternoon.  Some milder air aloft will push northward into the region, bringing a changeover to freezing rain late afternoon and evening from south to north.  Temperatures should eventually be warm up enough for plain rain across south NJ & central Delaware Sunday evening and possibly as far north as Philadelphia.

This is a weak and fast moving system so precipitation amounts will be on the lighter side.  Expect around 1" of snow for Philly and 1-3" in the NW suburbs and Lehigh Valley.  The Poconos will stay mainly snow with 3-6" possible by late Sunday night.  However, freezing rain will be a concern with ice accumulations of one tenth of an inch possible.

Expect snow covered and icy road conditions Sunday afternoon and night.  The precipitation should come to an end just after midnight, but some icy conditions are still possible into early Monday morning, especially north of Philly.
