4 Philly Sports Improbabilities

By Andrew Porter

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- February 24th, 2015.

The Phillies are set to begin a projected 94-loss season, the 12-44 Sixers continue to trek through tank 2.0, the Eagles are still two months away from not drafting Marcus Mariota, and the Flyers are finally---but dangerously---giving us a small glimmer of post-season hope.

On Tuesday, Angelo Cataldi the 94WIP Morning Show asked fans on the Audio Roadshow app, which is most likely to happen: Eagles get Mariota, Flyers win the Stanley Cup, Phillies are in the 2015 playoff race, or Sam Hinkie's plan works.

Over 40-percent of fans chose Hinkie's plan will work, while neither of the other three options received 25-percent of the vote.

So which of these Philadelphia sports improbabilities will come to fruition?

4. Eagles get Marcus Mariota - 8%

It's just not going to happen, way too many things need to go right. First of all, the dude ran a 4.52 40-yard dash. Why wouldn't other teams want him? Secondly, would Chip even mortgage a huge package to move up for Mariota? Does Chip even want Mariota? Why would he gush over a guy, publicly, that he legitimately thinks he can get? That's not smart.

3. Phillies are in the playoff race - 9%

Their top two pitchers are studs and their bullpen is elite. If Ryan Howard turns things around, Ben Revere continues to hit a top the lineup, Chase Utley is Chase Utley, and some of the young guys pop, you never know right?

Oh, and Angels can replace Domonic Brown in the outfield. Hey, it could happen?

2. Flyers win the Stanley Cup - 10% chance

To their credit, the Flyers' playoff chances were recently less than four-percent. Now, after recording at least one point in 12 of their last 13 games, the Flyers find themselves just four points behind the Bruins for the second wild-card spot.

And we all know, especially in hockey, once you're in you never know.

1. Sam Hinkie's plan will work - more than 50% chance

I would call this one a probability, not an improbability.

This current Sixers team will add, as it stands now (never know what else Hinkie is going to do), five first-round picks, Dario Saric, and Joel Embiid to their roster in the next two seasons. This is going to work, we just need to stay patient.
