Cold Weather Has Travelers At PHL Thinking Warm

By Jim Melwert

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - What's the best way to beat the frigid temperatures? For people at Philadelphia International Airport Friday it's fly somewhere warm of course.

Angela is on her way to Jamaica. She says she booked this trip just last week:

"It was cold and I decided to plan a trip. My sister is already there, so I'm joining her."

She says it's hard to imagine that she'll be lying on a beach in just a few hours:

"Even though it's cold over there too, it's 70 degrees, so it's better than this."

Matt Witalec from Drexel Hill is heading for a Caribbean cruise with his wife:

"We're both letter carriers, so it's a great day. I just can't wait to see some sun, some warm air."

Meantime, Bridget Isaacman and her husband are on their way to Cancun:

"I got flip fops on, I changed in the car. We're really excited."

Alexandra Zeitz and some friends from Drexel are headed to South Beach, where morning temperatures were in the 40s, but are forecasted to go up to close to 80 over the weekend.

"I'm pretty excited to get out of here, but it's going to be so hard to come back to this freezing weather, but whatever, it'll be nice for like three days.

And as one of Alexandra's friends puts it, its warmer there than it is in her apartment right now.
