Desjardins: Flyers Hall Of Fame Induction Is 'Pretty Big Deal'
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- The Flyers will induct defenseman Eric Desjardins into the team Hall Of Fame on Thursday night before their game against the Buffalo Sabres.
"I was surprised and honored, not doubt about it," Desjardins told Michael Barkann and Ike Reese Wednesday during the 94WIP Mike & Ike Show. "I think it's a pretty big deal. And like you said earlier, I didn't know where it was going to lead me to get traded to the Flyers, but certainly tomorrow it's gonna prove that it was a pretty good thing for me."

Desjardins was acquired by the Flyers in a deal along with John LeClair from the Montreal Canadiens in 1995. He is now second in Flyers history among defenseman in goals, assists and points.
"Making it to the Stanley Cup Finals was a pretty big thing, but we had really good seasons in Philly," Desjardins said. "We made it to the semi-final, what, a couple times in my 11 years. There's a lot of stuff that I can remember that are pretty amazing and that I'm proud of.
"Every year we started the year and we had a chance to go all the way, and that was a pretty good feeling for anybody that was involved in the NHL."
As for the current Flyers team, which is fighting for their playoff lives, Desjardins follows them closely from his home in Quebec.
"I have the NHL package," Desjardins explained. "Every time I have a chance to watch the Flyers, I watch the Flyers. I missed maybe 10 games this year. Besides that, I watch them. I keep track of all the stuff they do. Hopefully they can sneak in, you never know."
