Rumors: Four Picks From Eagles To Jets For Mariota Is 'Win-Win'

By Andrew Porter

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- Hey, they're saying it, not us.

New York Daily News writer Manish Mehta says if the Eagles traded their 2015 and 2016 first-and-second-round picks to the Jets, for the No. 6 pick in this year's draft---to select Marcus Mariota---it would be a "win-win."

The Jets have the No. 6 overall pick in the 2015 draft, while the Eagles have pick No. 20.

Eagles head coach Chip Kelly has gushed about Mariota, his former player and the reigning Heisman Trophy winning quarterback from Oregon, saying Mariota will be successful in whatever he does. In fact, Kelly went as far to compare Mariota to the likes of Peyton Manning.

Mehta writes that Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan "is positioned to pull off a smart, blockbuster, draft-day trade thanks to a fast-talkin', smoothie-lovin' offensive guru 90 miles down the road who can't wait to land the quarterback of his dreams."

Mariota, a dual-threat QB with elite athleticism, seems ideal for Kelly (who now has complete control of all personnel decisions) and his fast-paced offense.

Mehta writes one personnel director said, "If he's in Chip's system, he'll be a problem for teams from Day One. Mariota may be the missing piece for them. If he plays in any other system, he's at least one year away."
