Unlucky Friday The 13th For Some Local People With Outstanding Warrants

By Justin Finch

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia Sheriff Jewell Williams called Friday, February 13 a most unlucky day for 42 people rounded up Operation Deadbeat Sweep.

"They've got no where to hide, and no where to ride."

Sheriff Williams was there to greet them at the Philadelphia Family Court garage where the captured were dropped off before being taken to prisoner drop off.

Williams headed the sweep which is now in its 18th year. Ninety officers from Bensalem, Philadelphia, and State Police, as well as the Bucks, Chester and Delaware County Sheriff's Departments took part in this year's operation.

To pull off the sweep, Williams said the agencies stay in constant contact because they are often looking for the same people.

"You know Philadelphia is a hub and folks who leave Philadelphia go out into the county."

Williams said the captured have outstanding arrest warrants for a variety of offenses which include criminal mischief, domestic violence, DUI, retail theft and unpaid child support.

"If you owe child support, pay it. There's a $187,000 that we were able to bring in from people who owe this debt."

A debt, the Sheriff called, a Valentine's Day gift for families and children in need.
