Timonen To Resume Skating Friday: 'I Kept That Hope Alive'

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- Flyers defenseman Kimmo Timonen announced he will resume skating on Friday. The announcement came during the Flyers-Islanders game on Thursday night via Timonen's Twitter handle.

Timonen has been dealing with life-threatening blood clots in his lungs and right-calf. The 39-year-old veteran defenseman has not skated since Game Seven of the Flyers-Rangers First Round series on Apr. 30th, 2014.

"I kept that hope alive," said Timonen during a press conference. "I worked out really hard and meeting all the doctors, with Hexy and the specialists. I feel really confident about skating and coming back."
