How Stressed Are We? Everyone's At A Different Level

By Tim Jimenez

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - An annual survey from the American Psychological Association looks at Stress in America.

The number one source of significant stress: 64-percent surveyed say money. Money has remained up top since the first survey in 2007.

Work is second, family responsibilities third and fourth is health concerns.

So how stressed are people in our area? Some gave KYW Newsradio their stress levels on a scale of 1 to 10:

"Probably six"

"Five"

"I would say my stress level is somewhere around a three."

The survey says the national average is 4.9, part of a downward trend. So what exactly gets people stressed in Philadelphia?

"Meeting Deadlines, deliverables to clients - that sort of thing."

"I'm self employed so guess what?"

Molly, who said she was at a three, is not one to sweat the small stuff and cited Mindful Meditation as a huge help:

"Everyday at 5 a.m. I start my meditation and I keep it up and then at the end of the day I actually meditate one more time and thank God for all the great things in my life."

On the other end of the spectrum, Sara from Lafayette Hill tells KYW Newsradio she's at an eight. She then hesitated and added an additional half point.

Why is she an 8.5? Because she's getting married next month and says there is way too much to do.
