Police: 70-Year-Old Man Struck, Killed In South Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Police say a 70-year-old man is dead after he was struck by a vehicle in South Philadelphia.

It happened just before 8 p.m. Wednesday near 23rd Street and Oregon Avenue.

The man was struck in the left lane of Oregon Avenue by an SUV traveling westbound, according to police.

Police say the man was taken to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver remained at the scene.

Police have not yet identified the victim.

The investigation continues.
