Lincoln Drive Reopened After Big Ice Problem

By Jan Carabeo

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- Lincoln Drive has reopened early this morning after a backed up drain and sub-freezing temperatures caused a big icing problem Monday night.

The road was shut down in both directions near Gypsy Lane for most of the evening yesterday after runoff covered both lanes, causing icy spots.

Shortly after 11 p.m., Lincoln Drive was closed again due to a water main break. It was reopened around 4am Tuesday.

City trucks are out early Tuesday, getting another round of salt down on the road and hoping to eliminate any more icing problems.

The road is open again in time for the morning commute, but be careful out there, black ice and slick spots can still cause problems for drivers.
