2 Found Shot In Head, 1 Fatally, After Van Slams Into Olney Home

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Police say two men were discovered shot in the head -- and one of them later died -- after a van with five total passengers crashed into a home early Thursday morning in the Olney section of Philadelphia.

This happened around 12:45 a.m. on the 5500 block of North American Street.

Police say they found one victim in the front seat of the van and the other exiting the vehicle from the rear. Both were bleeding from the head and taken to Einstein Hospital.

One victim, a 21-year-old, was shot once in the head and pronounced dead at the hospital. The other victim, a 21-year-old, was shot once in the head and once in the hand and is in critical condition.

Witnesses say the three other men in the car fled the scene on foot following the crash, according to police.

Police say they found a gun in the van in plain view as well as what they say appears to be marijuana in the glove compartment.

Police aren't sure where the shooting took place, but say it is very likely the shooting caused the crash as the investigation continues.
