TRAFFIC ALERT: Pres. Obama, VP Biden Coming to Philadelphia This Week

By John McDevitt

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The nation's Democratic legislative leaders are in town this week, working on their policy agenda for the 114th Congress.  President Obama will be in Philadelphia for a few hours tomorrow evening, to address House Democrats at a policy retreat.

The president will speak to the group at a dinner at the Sheraton Hotel, in Society Hill, on Thursday night.  Vice president Joe Biden will drop by the caucus on Friday.

Mayor Nutter says that while the Democratic politicians are here, he hopes they will all see that Philadelphia would be the  perfect choice for the party's national nominating convention next year.

"Having all the House Democrats in the Congress in Philadelphia, having the president, having the vice president, reminds everyone what a great town this is, and that the Democratic Convention is on people's minds very, very much as we lead into election year 2016," Nutter said.

Besides Philadelphia, Columbus and New York City are being considered for the 2016 DNC convention.
