'Oscar' At The Academy Of Music

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Opera Philadelphia presents "Oscar," starting February 6th at the Academy of Music.
"Well, it's near the end of Oscar's life; it's just before his third trial for gross indecency for being a gay man. And he was found guilty, and he was imprisoned for two years hard labor, and it killed him, because three years later – the rest of his life when he got out, he was pretty useless," explains David Daniels, who stars as Oscar Wilde in the opera.
And Daniels shares some information on how the opera evolved.
"John and Theo actually came up with the idea of 'Oscar,' but it was always a subject matter, an opera to be written around me – which is, you know, obviously a highlight of my career."
