One Storm Down, Another To Go!

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The snow from yesterday has moved on, but there are still a few leftover flurries across the Delaware Valley this morning. By the afternoon, we expect some sunshine. Snow totals from yesterday were right on track with what we forecasted generally ranging from 1-3". A storm on Saturday has a chance to eclipse those numbers.
Friday will be an quiet day. Sunshine will be more dominant than it will be today, with highs about the same (close to 40). Then our forecast gets tricky. Right now, Saturday is looking like a mess one way or the other. The best bet is for the precipitation to start as snow late Friday night into Saturday morning, eventually mixing in with rain before finally changing back to snow later in the day. The storm will exit Saturday evening.
Accumulations may be hampered a bit with any rain mixing in, but as you could can see in our exclusive CBS3 snow probability map, certain areas are still more likely than others of picking up a good amount of snow.
I know you all want to hear some numbers, so here are our current estimates. The areas of dark blue could see around 3-5" when all is said in done. The lighter shade around that is looking at 2-4". The most extreme northwestern locations and areas along the shore (lightest shade) would likely see the lightest amounts, around 1-3". This is a coastal storm, so the furthest areas away would have more of a dearth of moisture, resulting in lighter amounts. Smaller amounts a
long the shore would be due to warmer air and more mixing with rain.
It is a complex storm, as are most. Timing will also play a factor in what we see, as will several other factors.
