PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Police say a 14-year-old boy who was stabbed in West Philadelphia Friday afternoon has died.

It happened around 3:30 p.m. near 46th and Market Streets.

"After school these kids who all apparently know each other and in the area riding their bikes continued to have an argument over whatever the fight was earlier and one of the three males pulls a knife from his pocket and stabs the 14-year-old one time in the chest," said Philadelphia Police Lt. John Walker.

The 14-year-old was taken to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia in critical condition.  Police say he was pronounced dead at 8:55 p.m.

Investigators tell Eyewitness News a 16-year-old has been arrested in connection with the stabbing.

The incident remains under investigation.
