Officials To Cut The Ribbon On Highly Anticipated Justice Center In Bucks County

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. (CBS) -- Officials in Bucks County today officially dedicate and cut the ribbon for the long-anticipated justice center in Doylestown.

It's been nearly seven years since the first approvals were given for the building and over time the plans have changed over and over again.

The 85-million dollar building sits across Main Street from the current courthouse and will house more than 500 employees when it officially opens for business later this month. County Commissioner Rob Loughery says the building will allow them to provide services better and operate more efficiently.

"We'll be able to sell buildings, put those buildings back onto the tax rolls. We'll be able to get out of leases and, really, we'll be reducing our overhead and our footprint."

The building is 285-thousand square feet with eight stories, six above ground, two below and thirteen high tech courtrooms with room to expand.

There will be a public open house Sunday from noon until 3 p.m. County workers will start moving next weekend.
