Philadelphia Police Announce Arrest In Murder Of Limo Driver

By Steve Patterson

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Twenty-six-year-old Mijael Rodriguez was a new father, new fiancé, working a new job to take care of his family.

"He was just a really good person, he was somebody that didn't get in trouble, he always did the right thing," said Rodriguez's sister-in-law Melinda Gonzalez.

Saturday night Rodriguez, a driver for a car service, was working with his fiancée in the passenger seat.

He picked up three men in North Philadelphia.

The fare ended in West Philadelphia around 7 p.m. when the men allegedly made their intentions clear.

"He pulled out a gun, he pointed it right at the fiancée and he said to the male if you don't give me everything you have I'm going to kill her," said Philadelphia Police Captain James Clark.

Scared for her life, Rodriguez complied giving up $30 and a cell phone.

"He then kept saying 'look I have nothing else please don't hurt her. I have nothing else.' With that the male then exited the vehicle and for no reason pulled out a gun and shot him one time in the head," said Clark.

Monday, police announced charges for the alleged triggerman 20-year-old Alonzo Dilligard.

A man they say left a five-month-old without a father and a fiancée without a husband for no reason.

"Her fiancé died in her arms," said Clark.

"She's trying to deal, it's just hard," said Gonzalez.

Eyewitness News has learned a second person who was questioned by police was released Monday night. Police are reportedly looking for a third person.
