Old City Museum Celebrates 'Being ________ At Christmas'

By Hadas Kuznits

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- A nontraditional Christmas celebration took place at the National Museum of American Jewish History on Christmas day, called "Being ________ at Christmas."

"The event used to be called being Jewish at Christmas, but why limit it to just Jewish audiences," says Emily August, director of public programs at the museum. "This way you can fill in any blank you are."

She says it's a day of activities on all floors of the museum. "We have a great project with the clay studio, we have a kids comedian. We have a dance party with Baby Loves disco."

Over 1,000 visitors attend this annual party, and August says, in a way, this activity day really exemplifies the themes explored in their exhibits.

"How do you balance those traditions and faiths from your home country in a world that really is a melting pot?" she says.
