Drivers Continue To Enjoy Cheaper Prices At The Gas Pump

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Holiday drivers are enjoying gasoline prices that are getting lower by the day.

AAA Mid-Atlantic says the average price of gas in the five-county Philadelphia-area is $2.65 a gallon. In South Jersey, it's an average $2.34, down nine cents in the last week. At the BP gas station along Kings Highway in Cherry Hill it's $2.19. Driver Bob Bazin of Cherry Hill was filling up...

When is the last time he saw gas that cheap?

"I think I had hair back then," Bazin said.

Let the record show that Bob does not have much right now.

"Well, you don't have to rub it in," he said.

But Bazin was quick to point out that cheap gas means more discretionary income.

"The spillover is you're spending more in other areas," he said.

John DeConna of Turnersville was also filling up his tank. He was pleased to see the price at the BP.

"It was a nice holiday surprise," DeConna said. "The day is not too great for traveling, but still, we don't know how long it's going to be before it goes back up."

Analysts say with a strong U-S dollar and no cut in oil production, drivers should continue to see low gasoline prices into the new year.
