Army Veteran Receives Heroes Welcome In South Jersey

By Mike Dougherty

CAMDEN, N.J. (CBS) - Christmas came early in Camden County for Army Specialist Collin Tidd Sunday as he returned home from Afghanistan.

"I'm at a loss for words," he said.

Collin Tidd couldn't believe his eyes when he saw more than 100 people standing in a parking lot, waiting to welcome him back.

His father, Miles, and sister, Allison are, as you might expect, beaming with joy to see their favorite soldier celebrating with loved ones as well as strangers.

"I'm so overwhelmed," Allison said. "It's just amazing."

"It means the world to me, to him, to our whole family," adds Miles. "We're just overwhelmed and so excited."

So after nine months in Afghanistan, Collin had a few things he wanted to do once he got home. One thing is on top of the list:

"Eat a New Jersey cheesesteak, Philly cheesesteak. I thought about it for 9 months. I finally get to do it."

Allison says it will be a non-stop party at the Tidd household this week.

Welcome home, Collin.
