No Sign of Violence in Colwyn Cop Accused of Murder, Says His Attorney

By Brad Segall

GLENOLDEN, Pa. (CBS) -- The attorney who represents a former Delaware County cop accused of murdering his former girlfriend this week says his client had been working hard to try to straighten out his life.

Marty Mullaney represents Stephen Rozniakowski in an earlier stalking and harassment case, in Montgomery County.

Rozniakowski's bail in that case has now been revoked and that case put on hold after the 32-year-old former Colwyn cop was charged with first-degree murder and related offenses.

Authorities say he shot and killed the woman and injured her daughter on Monday evening.

Mullaney says Rozniakowski had never shown any violent tendencies.

"All of his contacts have been of a harassing nature or of an annoying nature," Mullaney tells KYW Newsradio.  "There's been nothing whatsoever that would lead anyone to believe that something this tragic could ever happen."

Rozniakowski is recovering from gunshot wounds after he was shot by the victim's husband.  Mullaney says he had been getting counseling and treatment for alcohol abuse and was trying to get his act together.
