Is A Christmas Eve Storm On The Way?

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The good news? The sun is here to stay for the next few days. The bad news? Our recent mild temperatures are coming back down to earth.
Highs will be only be in the low 40s on Thursday, but making it feel even colder, there will be a persistent NW breeze. Any wind should die down tonight, and Friday is looking like a pleasant day, for mid-December standards. For the weekend, the storm that looked as though it would impact the Delaware Valley looks as though it will stay well south of the area. This means a dry weekend, with clouds late Saturday and early Sunday.
Let's now turn our attention to next week. Showers are possible on Monday and Tuesday, but the big story is a large storm system that could swing through on Christmas Eve. As of now, rain looks to be the predominant precipitation type, NOT snow - temperatures would be too warm.
With several models in a good agreement this early on, it is important to keep in mind that small atmospheric changes could adjust the timing, placement and trajectory of this storm, which could lead to changes in this extremely preliminary forecast. Regardless of the details, this would make for some very messy holiday travel plans.
