Montco DA: Body Of Man Who Killed 6 Family Members Found In Woods With Self-Inflicted Cutting Wounds

PENNSBURG, Pa. (CBS) – Officials have confirmed the body of Bradley William Stone was found in the woods in New Hanover Township just after 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

His body was about a half mile away from his home in Pennsburg.

Officials say Stone murdered six of his family members in a killing spree in Montgomery County yesterday.

Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Ferman says Stone appears to have died from "self-inflicted cutting wounds to the center part of his body."

The DA also said that as far as they can tell, Stone and his now deceased ex-wife, Nicole, had ongoing custody disputes. "We learned just last week Brad tried to secure custody of his children and that was denied. Right now I would say it's speculation, but certainly from a timing perspective, it seems to be related. It was just another event in their ongoing custody dispute."

Ferman says it was when a police chief suggested doing a well-being check on family members they discovered the other victims.

One of the surviving victims, Anthony Flick, suffered "significant cutting injuries that appear to be defensive in nature, showing he was fighting off his attacker," according to Ferman.

She adds, "We're clearly looking at a premeditated killing, a planned killing, an intentional and deliberate killing."

"To have an event like this really shatter the peace and tranquility of the community is very disturbing," Ferman said.

Stone's children are reportedly in protective custody and are "safe and secure," according to Ferman.

"Now people can kind of relax a little bit more knowing that they're not in danger anymore," neighbor Julia Leonard told Eyewitness News.

"We're really numb from what we've had to go through the past two days," Ferman said.

CBS 3's David Spunt contributed to this report.
