Christie And Obama To Visit New Jersey Military Base

FORT DIX, N.J. (AP) — Gov. Chris Christie will join President Barack Obama during a visit to a New Jersey military base.

The Republican governor's office said Sunday he'll greet the president and attend his planned remarks at McGuire Air Force Base on Monday.

The White House says Obama is coming to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst to thank the troops and their families for their service and sacrifice.

Christie has frequently criticized Obama's leadership as he considers a run for president in 2016.

But his warm embrace of the president in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy remains a sore point for many Republican voters.

Obama canceled a trip to the state in October because of the Ebola outbreak.

The base is home to more than 38,000 active-duty, reserve and guard service members, civilians and family members.
