Police: Man Killed After Crashing Car Into Wall In Kingsessing
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Police say a man is dead after losing control of his car and crashing into a wall in Southwest Philadelphia.
It happened around 12:10 a.m. Friday near Lindbergh Boulevard and Grays Avenue in the city's Kingsessing neighborhood.
Witnesses tell police the car was speeding eastbound along the 5100 block of Grays Avenue and drove through a red light when the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a wall of a nearby business. The force of the crash caused the car to flip upside down and erupt in flames.
Fire crews arrived and put out the fire.
The 26-year-old driver was found unconscious inside the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim's identity was not released. He was the only person inside the car at the time of the crash.
Authorities are investigating, but say speed appears to be the cause of the accident.
