Sixers Acquire Kirilenko And Gutierrez From Nets
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- On Thursday, the Sixers announced a trade with the Brooklyn Nets. The Sixers acquired forward Andrei Kirilenko and guard Jorge Gutierrez in exchange for forward Brandon Davies.
The Sixers also acquired a 2020 second round draft pick from the Nets in the deal as well as the right to swap 2018 second round picks.
Kirilenko is in his 13th NBA season. During that span, Kirilenko has averaged 12 points, six rebounds and three assists per game. He was selected with the 24th overall selection in the 1999 NBA Draft by the Utah Jazz.
Kirilenko has played in just seven games this season in Brooklyn and speculation is that he may not play much for the Sixers either. Kirilenko has reportedly been away from the Nets dealing with family matters and may opt to take some time away from the game and sign on with a team later in the season rather than play for a team like the Sixers with a clear rebuilding mentality.
Gutierrez was signed by the Nets in March of 2014, appearing in 15 games for Brooklyn last season and 10 this season. He is the fourth native of Mexico to play in the NBA.
To clear room on the roster for both players acquired, the Sixers waived guard Malcolm Lee.
