Drexel Student Stabbed On Campus Released From Hospital; Suspect In Custody

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- Police say six Drexel students were involved in an altercation overnight on campus and one of the students was stabbed.

Getting their day started at the dorms at 33rd and Race were Drexel students like Kevin, going outside and finding police tape and a few cop cars watching over a crime scene.

"Just kind of surprised. I didn't know what it was when I first walked out here," he said.

He says he usually feels safe here on campus. "It does make you wonder a little bit. But I guess you gotta be careful. Gotta be careful anywhere."

What happened was a stabbing, according to police. Drexel officials say the victim, a 20-year-old Drexel student, got involved in an altercation with five other Drexel students around 3:30am outside Drexel's residence halls.

The victim was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania with a stab wound to the back. The victim was reported in stable condition and later released from the hospital.

Police say Junlin Ye, 19, and Pu Wang, 23, have been taken into custody.

A weapon was found at the scene.
