PHILADELPHIA, PA (CBS) — Every play is a progression, every game a coaching point. That's an NFL season. It comes in learning increments, and depending on how talented a team is, that slide could move up and down.

The Eagles' trajectory took a slight dip after falling to the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks, 24-14, but there was growth that can from it, Eagles' safety Malcolm Jenkins believes.

He knows what it's like to win. He was a major part of the New Orleans Saints team that won the 2010 Super Bowl—and responding to games like Sunday can mean.

Watching as the game unfolded, anything the Eagles did, Seattle was able to counter it. It was as if the Seahawks knew they would control the course of the game from start to finish.

"My biggest thing was the only thing I was disappointed in was we were losing some of the fight in the game," Jenkins said. "Guys were getting frustrated by some of the lack of productivity we usually have, and we might have lost more patience than we needed to be.

"You look at Seattle and they're very much comfortable with low-scoring games. They stay disciplined until someone else makes a mistake. That's how they win. I don't think we were prepared to play that style of a game. Their offense might not score a lot, but their defense is very, very stingy. They're comfortable there. When our offense wasn't going well, that made us a little uncomfortable. That wasn't the game we wanted to play.

"Going forward, if we want to beat these elite teams, we have to be able to play those grinder games where it's not pretty and we have to find a way to win. It's kind of like those games when we may not have the numbers or stats, but we find a way to win. Defensively, we get so many snaps, the offense is going to make a play and we can't get frustrated with that. It's something we need to work on."

Dallas comes back in here on Sunday for a nationally televised game.

"We're going to get the Cowboys' best, because they're a pissed off team over the last game and we know we're better than how we played against Green Bay and how we played against Seattle," Jenkins said. "We do expect to win every week. We know Dallas is going to come at us. They're coming off a 10-day rest and we will see some new wrinkles. This is a going to be a great game that's going to be good to watch. They're going to give us their best, and we're going to give them our best."
