LeSean McCoy Talks Seahawks And His Chance At History

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- LeSean McCoy is always an integral part of the Eagles' rushing attack and that fact will once again hold true on Sunday. The Eagles are squaring off with the Seahawks and McCoy joined Anthony Gargano and Rob Ellis to discuss the match up on Thursday.

The first point of emphasis when facing Seattle is always the defense. McCoy knows that they will pose a tough challenge on Sunday.

"I think out of all the teams we played, this is probably the best defense," McCoy said of the Seahawks.

"They are very fast and explosive to the ball so they make plays. They thrive on turnovers."

One of the greatest successes against the Seahawks on the season came when they squared off against the Chiefs. In that game, Jamaal Charles rushed the ball 20 times for 159 yards and two touchdowns. He also caught two passes for 19 yards.

That type of production out of McCoy on Sunday would go a long way for the Eagles and he has taken note of Charles' performance.

"I saw a lot of pretty good play-calling from the Chiefs," McCoy said giving credit to his former coach, Andy Reid. "They spread [Seattle] out and gave them some room to run and made some guys miss."

While McCoy is 100% focused on the Seahawks, he is also aware of the fact that he could set a major milestone at home on Sunday. McCoy needs just 48 yards to pass Wilbert Montgomery to become the Eagles' all-time leading rusher. McCoy is well aware of the magnitude of that accomplishment.

"It's something special," McCoy said of the possibility of passing Montgomery on Sunday. "I never imagined coming to the Eagles that I would be able to accomplish something like that, especially so early in my career."

In just his 6th NFL season, McCoy has a chance to etch his name into the Eagles record books, and build on his place in history for quite some time.

McCoy gave credit for his success to several people including former teammate Brian Westbrook, his coach and former Eagles' back Duce Staley, Reid and of course his current coach, Chip Kelly.

McCoy is hopeful he'll get the honor on Sunday, but knows there may not be a lot of time to soak it all in.

"The funny thing is if I get it, we play so fast, there won't be time to stop." McCoy summed it all up by saying "it's truly a blessing," to pass a great player like Montgomery.
