Sixers Win To Stop Streak And Allen Iverson Is Pleased

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Sixers finally did it. On Wednesday night, the Sixers were in Minnesota with a chance to lose their 18th straight game to open the season. That loss would have tied an NBA record.

The Sixers avoided the dubious distinction by defeating the Timberwolves 85-77.

The win caught the eye of the entire sports media machine as people gathered around a game to see whether or not historical futility would be achieved. The Sixers avoided that feat and caught the attention of one of the franchise's greats in the process.

Allen Iverson was sure to show some love to the youngsters that wear the name across their chest that he battled for for the majority of his career. Iverson's message to stay strong is one that the Sixers must listen to as they come down from their victory to face the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday.
