EXCLUSIVE: Yusuf/Cat Stevens Concert Ticket Mix-up Leaves Some Fans Upset

By Diana Rocco

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The opening night in the United States for artist formerly known as Cat Stevens and 'Wild World' was the scene outside the Tower Theater in Upper Darby.

"All I wanted to see was Cat Stevens, that's all I wanted to do tonight," a fan said.

"These tickets are all a scam. It's just awful, everybody up there is just heartbroken and there's so many people, it's terrible," another fan said.

For fans who purchased tickets to the show Peace Train... Late Again it was better late than never. Those buying through a third party site were issued a gift card to serve as their electronic ticket. But for security reasons, the Tower was only honoring tickets bought from the site directly.

"I got this paid receipt, and then I got instructions where my seat was," a fan said.

"I was told I only need the gift card and a driver's license and credit card," said fan Todd Hammond.

Todd Hammond was one of more than 100 people who shelled out hundreds to a third party vendor and was initially turned away.

"They assured me each person that this was 100 percent guaranteed, you will have no problems getting in the door, the tickets are on the gift card, it's a new type of paperless ticketing that they're trying," Hammond said.

"I took the day off of work, drove six plus hours to get here, reserved a hotel room," said fan Gayle Shelvoy.

Gayle and Chris Shelvoy drove from Rochester, New York and were ready to go home when they heard this.

"People who have a gift card serving as their ticket they will be allowed entry two at a time."

Gift card holders were eventually allowed in, but by then, dozens had given up.

After the concert, a lot of happy fans leaving the theater tonight saying this was an awesome show, one of the best they've seen.
