Grand Imperial Poobah: Are You All-In On Chip Kelly?

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- (Editor's Note) Stan Hochman, a Daily News sports columnist for 55 years, has been appearing on 94WIP's morning show for over a year now, settling disputes (and starting new ones) as the "Grand Imperial Poobah." He brings that persona to CBSPhilly.com/poobah on Tuesdays and Thursdays and we welcome input on which issues you want the Poobah to take a good, hard look at. Send requests and ideas for The Poobah to WIPpoobah@gmail.com.

Without further ado, here's The Poobah.

Phil E. Phan: In the aftermath of the Eagles thrashing the Cowboys, can we finally count you as a devout disciple of Chip Kelly?

Poobah: We know very little about Chip Kelly, only what he wants us to know.

We know he thinks big people beat up little people. We know he values the culture in the clubhouse. We know he believes in the value of sports science. We know he does not believe in statement games, trap games, revenge games.

We know he believes in a quick tempo on offense because it sometimes leaves the opposition with vulnerable defenders, because it wears out those beefy defensive linemen, because Vince Lombardi once said that "fatigue makes cowards of us all."

He believes in the hurry-up offense even when he's got the lead in the fourth quarter, as opposed to chewing up the clock by slowing things down, maybe because he thinks he has a better chance of adding to his lead, rather than squandering it.

His team will be ready for Seattle even though a revenge-stoked Dallas mob will be coming here the next week. He know he can be sarcastic with the media, which will play in this town as long as he keeps winning.

You can hear Stan "The Grand Imperial Poobah" Hochman on the 94WIP Morning Show every Thursday at 7:20am E.T. Send the Philadelphia sports issues you want The Poobah to tackle to WIPpoobah@gmail.com
