Brett Brown: 'We're Not That Far Away'
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- The Sixers lost 114-104 Monday night against a superior Portland Trail Blazers team, falling to 0-14 on the season.
Sixers head coach Brett Brown, however, remains optimistic about his team.
"We're not that far away," Brown said after the game. "I genuinely believe that. I believe this team is starting to see bits of things coming together. Nobody is rolling over or pointing fingers."
While the Sixers shot 50-percent as a team, guards Michael Carter-Williams and Tony Wroten combined to shoot 17-42 (40.4%) from the field, despite combining for 44 points. Carter-Williams had just two assists to two turnovers, as he continues to struggle early on this season.
"You look at the stat sheet, we had 70 points at the rim -- that's a massive number -- and we were 0 for 8 from three," Brown said. "We didn't make a three and that is incredibly rare in an NBA game."
Staying on the bright side, rookie center Nerlens Noel, coming off an impressive 17 point, 12 rebound effort against the Knicks over the weekend, stuffed the stat sheet on Monday night. Noel shot 6-7 from the field, tallying 12 points, five boards, three assists, two blocks, and three steals.
