Eagles Knew What Titans Would Do On Josh Huff TD Return

By Joseph Santoliquito

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Just by the tone of Josh Huff's voice, you could tell that there was no doubt he was going to take the ball out.

And it's exactly what Huff did.

Huff had been particularly hard on himself about some of the mistakes he's made his rookie year with the Eagles. When he reached the end zone, after making an epic, Eagles' record 107-yard kickoff return to open the Eagles' 43-24 win over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field, one word came to mind: "Finally!"

"I just relaxed and let the game come to me after putting so much pressure on myself," said Huff, "That's a quick glimpse of what I can do in space. I have to continue to get better each and every week and I'm hoping to continue making those plays on offense. I was finally giving back. I just wanted to go out and perform and let the game come to me."

Huff didn't go back out to return another kickoff, which didn't surprise Huff.

"I wasn't surprised at all," Huff said. "It's just what we had planned, and the different returns we had. I did my job and I was waiting for my number to be called again, and unfortunately, it wasn't. But we have two dynamic playmakers back there in myself and Chris Polk."

Huff never doubted he was coming out with the ball.

"I'm on the end line or two yards in the end zone, I want to be aggressive with the first kickoff and I was able to do that," Huff said. "I made up my mind. I did in high school, that's about it. It definitely boosts my confidence. It makes me want to harder in practice."

Huff received a huge block by Trey Burton, No. 47, who helped seal a big running lane for Huff.

"We think we have a chance every time on a kickoff to break one," Burton said. "There are different ways you block people on kickoffs. You can set them up and kick them out, there are a bunch if different things that you can do. I was really happy for Josh. We want every return to break."

Burton said the play was by design.

"Watching film, we knew what [Tennessee] was going to do," Burton said. "We got a great play and we executed it. I was eight yards behind Josh the whole way behind him. It's not something see, Josh with the ball running by, it's something you feel. I just felt him run right by me. I watched a lot of film and we knew what they were going to do."
