Cooper Hosp. CEO and Wife Stabbed, Then Torched? NJ Investigators Aiding Probe

By David Madden

SOMERSET, N.J. (CBS) -- New Jersey law enforcement investigators are now involved in the Somerset County probe into the deaths of Cooper Hospital CEO John Sheridan and his wife two months ago.

While the state attorney general's office says they will not discuss ongoing investigations, a source familiar with the probe tells KYW Newsradio the state is providing "assistance with manpower and expertise" in what is being termed "a very complex case."

The Somerset County prosecutor remains the lead investigative body, and they have been tight-lipped about how John and Joyce Sheridan actually died.  The fire in their home, which was later declared arson, was confined to their bedroom.

The Courier-Post spoke with a family relative who claimed he was told the couple was stabbed several times.

The couple's four sons, in a statement, have indicated they won't discuss the case until all the facts are in.
