Burlington County To Host Summit Showing The Dangers Of Illegal Drugs

WESTAMPTON, NJ (CBS) -- Burlington County will host an anti-drug summit this week in Westampton, New Jersey which will be open to the general public.
The free session, at the County Library Auditorium on Pioneer Boulevard, starts at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday evening.
It'll feature a film on the dangers of illegal drugs, followed by a panel discussion with key officials, including Burlington County Prosecutor Robert Bernardi.
"This has become a real threat to our society. The use of heroin and opiates in general have really increased in the last year or so."
Case in point, there were 44 overdose deaths in the county last year and 36 of them were blamed on heroin. But on the other side of the equation, since July 18, people who overdosed lived to talk about it, thanks to police use of Narcan, which reverses the effect of such drugs.
