GOP Midterm Victories Portend Good Things For Christie, Notes Political Expert

TRENTON, N.J. (CBS) -- New Jersey governor Chris Christie is basking a bit in the afterglow of this week's electoral victories for Republican gubernatorial hopefuls across America.
That's because it plays right into his possible plans to run for president.
Montclair State University professor Brigid Harrison believes Christie's out-of-state efforts have given him the chance to cash in on some political IOUs down the line.
"He can claim credit for these victories, but he also has a strong network now moving forward to 2016," she says, noting that's particularly true in early battleground states such as Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina.
Harrison believes it's not a matter of if, but when Christie announces a presidential run.
One downside from the election, she suggests, may be the Republican control of the US Senate. That will give potential rivals in the Senate, like Rand Paul and Ted Cruz, a lot more visibility in the national media.
